I’m Officially A b5media Blogger

Today, I sent out my “hello everyone” introduction email to every blogger in the b5media blog network.

At this very moment, I am staring at my first professional blog site’s administration page that was just given to me by the b5media’s owner Jeremy Wright. After a long delay caused by the exicting merge with AW and other bigger projects, Jeremy and I finally closed the deal and set the site up. Although it will still take another week or two to finalize the design and officially launch the site to the public, I am absolutely thrilled to share this with you:

I am creating a blog that is dedicated to the working women. The new blog will be part of b5media’s women channel. Yes, yes, there are a lot of topics and I am absolutely thrilled to finally have a place to voice the concerns from the highly stressed working women, to share our stories, to encourage each other, to make friends and to find support in a community.

I did notice a lot of you guys on this site are men. (maybe because I am such a nerd?) Well, hopefully you guys will still be able to find something interesting to read in the “women’s channel”. :-)

I will let you guys know once the site is formally launched and announced on b5media’s homepage. Now, I need to find some tequila and margarita mix to celebrate.. Haha!!!

Breckenridge Opening Weekend

I couldn’t wait any longer, so YES… I was nuts enough to go to Breckenridge this Friday to anticipate its opening weekend.

breckenridge 2005

Surprisingly, the snow condition wasn’t bad considering the tiny snow falls in the early season . Breck has also been making its own snow. We could actually taste the chemicals in the snow they were blowing at us. There were still enough powder on the first day and I fell on my face and dug my head into the snow. Falling was quite frustrating, but having my face buried in the snow was kind of cool. :-) Saturday was a very windy day and the afternoon weather suddenly turned quite cold. By 2pm, the run turned quite icy and hard.

I initially thought Breckenridge would have at least two runs open. Whatever the problem they had, everybody ended up on one blue run by Beaver Run super chair. Some people were probably too good to be on a blue that they felt the needs to run over other people with 40 mph speed. On the first day, a snowboarder crashed right into me, pushed me down the slope for about 15 feet. He was lucky that the only thing he broke was his sunglasses. It was very painful but I was OK and got back on my feet after a few minutes. There were even more aggressive people on the second day. One skier hit me (I was rolling again), didn’t even check on me and just took off. That just pissed of my friend who happens to be a real good boarder. He chased the guy down and found out that the “hit and run” jerk was not a punk kid we initially thought he would be. I wonder how older mature people wouldn’t even care about other people’s safeties? For God’s sake there were so many children on the slope trying to have a good fun day. A little kid wouldn’t be able to sustain the hit I took on Saturday.

We ended up doing only one run on Sunday and called it off. Lesson learned? Wait a few weeks before heading over to the ski resorts. At least wait until some black diamond runs are open so these “Great Skiers/Snowboarders” have their own playgrounds to show off the lighting speed.

“Please! Give the older/younger/not-so-good skiers/boarders a peaceful day on the slopes, will ya?!”

A Green Golden Retriever Puppy?

Have you seen a golden retriever giving birth to a green puppy whose name is Wasabi? Well..now you have..:-)

green puppy1
A dog gave birth to a green puppy. The little pup has been named Wasabi, the spicy green mustard put on sushi.

green puppy2
The green Golden Retriever was one of four puppies born to a dog in California last week.

green puppy3
His color definitely sets him apart. Veterinarians said that it is possible for a newborn pup’s fur to be green because the placenta, which is green, sometimes rubs off at birth.

Are The Guys Too Intimidated To Date Us?

Ok, we’ve heard this enough times from the girls who just came out of the broken relationships:
“I am smarter, faster, taller, richer and prettier. So he must feel too intimidated to be with me. “
perfect couple

Yep, this is the best excuse we can come up with. Think about this, we are successful, we are beautiful, we make great money, we are fun and furious females (using Cosmo’s lingo). So what could possibility be the reason why the guys don’t want to be with us? They must be intimidated, we believe.

I was at Comedy Works the other night enjoying Greg Behrendt performing on the stage. If anyone is not familiar with this name, he is the author of a quite popular book He’s just not that into you. The guy had some insights of relationship topics in general so I picked up a copy after the show.

Basically, Greg’s theory is that even if a guy doesn’t think he can match up, he will still move mountains to chase the girl he likes. So when a man breaks up with a woman, all it means is that he is just not that into her, regardless how much smarter, faster, richer and prettier she is. No other excuses ladies!

Although Greg does have a good point, I am not so sure if I totally agree with him. Men find their values when they can provide for their women. If a man feels that he has nothing to offer to her, he is probably going to feel a lot of pressure and eventually withdraw regardless how much he adores his capable woman.

So, will a man chase after a woman who is 10 times more capable than him? I believe he will. But will a man stay with this woman if he finds that he has no value in this relationship? I don’t think so.

My theory (maybe I am in my own dreamland) is that a man will leave the woman for other reasons even though he is still very much into her. What boils down is whether it is a balanced relationship where both parties are able to find satisfactions. For man, I guess the most important thing is to know that he is needed.

But on the other hand, if the relationship is still at its baby stage ranged from a few hours to a few months, I guess Greg is right about that “He is just not that into you” theory.

Did any guy ever initiate a breakup while he was still very much into the girl? I’d be curious to see what you think…

Window Views Needed

I am sick and tired of staying in a closed warehouse type of office for 10 hours a day and 300 days a year. I want to see sunshine, trees and birds!!

Here are a few ways to achieve my goal of seeing sunshine:

A) Buy from the vending machine as shown below
Buy window view

B) Join the smoking group so I can go outside every half an hour

C) Make enough troubles so I will be called into my boss’s window office a few times a day

D) Start goofing off on the job and work on the side projects. So one day, I can work from home with 15 windows around me.

Hmm… I think I will pick D) :-D

I Can’t Blog Tonight

I am not in a good mood at all! Should a blogger still write happy stuff when she feels that everything is so screwed up? Sometimes I feel that once a personal blog starts to appear in the public Internet, it’s really not a personal journal anymore.

I set up this blog with the intention to always write fun and positive stuff to inspire myself or others if anyone cares to read about it. And it has been working really great. It did help me to get my feet back on the ground in June when I hit a low point. I guess I still had enough energy to find something positive back then.

But have you ever had this moment that everything looks so hopeless and dark and you are wondering where the Lady Of The Light went? I really tried to blog tonight. But even the hottest game news or the hottest dude pictures are not able to give me a mood lift. It makes me wonder that sometimes no matter how strong we are, we still need someone, that special someone, a friend, a family member or whoever we trust to pat on our backs and tell us, “Hey, sweetie, everything is going to be OK. You are not alone. ”

Do What You Love

This afternoon, my project manager made an announcement in front of all of my project members that they will transfer me to a development position. Another person will take over my design/architect job in the next a few weeks.

Was I upset? You bet! I was disappointed and it did hurt my confidence a bit after losing my design job. But on the other hand, I looked back at the history of my professional consulting career, whenever I took the “talking” and “drawing” role as an architect, I got all stressed out and depressed. And whenever I was the “worker” on the project writing programs and putting systems together, I always had a pretty good time. I asked myself many times, “Is it true that I am just not cut for the architecture job?”

I like what I read in Martha Sinetar’s book “ Do What You Love, The Money Will Flow” :

“Most of us think about our jobs or our careers as a means to fulfill responsibilities to families and creditors, to gain more material comforts, and to achieve status and recognition. But we pay a high price for this kind of thinking….

Yet, even though we are all fairly adaptable, elastic, and multi-dimensional, we are not born to struggle through life. We are meant to work in ways that suit us, drawing on our natural talents and abilities as a way to express ourselves and contribute to others. This work, when we find it and do it – even if only as a hobby at first – is a key to our true happiness and self-expression. “

“Right Livelihood is an idea about work which is linked to the nature order of things. It is doing our best at what we do best. The rewards that follow are inevitable and manifold. There is no way we can fail. “

I can’t agree more on this topic. I suck in writing. I’ve never even read a Shakespeare book. However, my love for blogging has since injected the life sources into my blog. Soon, I will be blogging for food and officially become a “writer”, which is something I would have never thought I could do. It was all because of the power of the passion.

So, what is your passion? What are you dying to do but always find excuses not to do? What kind of job will make you so eager to get out of the bed every morning? If you can’t turn your dream work into an income-generating job, can you at least start it as a hobby?

Hopefully one day, we are all doing something we love to do and I truly believe that money will flow if we think hard, look hard and seize the chance.

Did My Posts Make Money Yet?

Woohoo! My first professional blog is formally launched! You can read about the announcement on b5media. I thought launching a blog site with pre-defined template and some prewritten contents would be easy. It still took us a full week to get all the details worked out. Nothing is easy nowadays.

Ok, here is the new site information:
Title: Blog Fabulous – Feeling fabulous in and out of the office
Address: www.blogfabulous.com

What does this mean to Yuna’s Village? Under the contract, I can’t post any new posts I write for Blog Fabulous on Yunasville. Therefore, a lot of topics I usually write about such as self-improvement and office lives will not be here anymore. Other usual topics such as technology, finances, rock climbing, snowboarding, games, and some stupid or smart Brew-Ha-Ha jokes that are not related to office and corporate lives will still be here. You will see that I am also moving some of my old posts to the new site over the next a few months. I don’t know how this is going to play out. But we will find out soon enough.

So, is the professional site making money? I sure hope so. Other bloggers from b5media are already getting paychecks now. I have no idea what I am going to get. Although I am still too tiny to blog for food, I sure hope I can blog for an ice cream bar once a while. :-)

A Short Announcement

After messing around with my site PHP code that Miko Cyco wrote earlier, I managed to re-arrange the left bar on Yunasville to include the headlines from Blog Fabulous.
Since I am writing on two, I figured it would be easier to list the new entries here for your reading pleasure.

I also wrote an introduction page on b5media if you are interested :
Christine Yuna

Now it’s time to blog my brains out again.. :-)
