Do We Really Need A Plasma?
Before I say anything, take a look at the following chart:

The Tube CRT offers the best quality of picture in the 13” – 36” range. A 36 inch CRT old fashion Tube TV costs probably 400 bucks while a same size Plasma costs $1999! I don’t know if I can convince myself to spend $1500 more just to get a flatter look. It seems kind of waste of money. So I am going to stick with my 100 dollar 27 inch old fashioned Panasonic CRT for a while.

Just keep in mind the weight difference between that CRT and the plasma / LCD group. Make sure to have plenty of male friends around who aren’t afraid of a little back pain for the chance to show off to the Mighty Yuna.

Hi Christine. got your blog url from a friend (I’m sure you can guess which one.) Anyways, I went through this CRT vs. Plasma comparison a couple of years ago and I ended up buying the Sony Grand Wega 40″ CRT for roughly $2500. At the time a plasma that size was going for at least $5000. The TV a.k.a. Big Daddy is awesome. it’s a 4:3 screen that also supports HD. And since alot of the TV I watch is still in 4:3 format I get a nice big picture and don’t have to worry about the vertical bars. The color and picture quality are just awesome. Of course the only drawback is the weight (300 lbs.) which was mentioned. It’ll probably cost me as much as I paid for the TV to move it. ouch! With the price of plasma’s coming down dramitically ( I’ve heard of 42″ plasma’s going for as low as $1500) I’d definitely go with plasma if I were in the market today.
